Signal Hill Observation Platform
Signal Hill Observation Platform is a lookout point above the city that offers a prime view of Kota Kinabalu.
Driving up to the Signal Hill Observation Platform is possible, although at peak times, aka sunset, parking is a problem as none are provided as such and visitors have to park on the side of the narrow road, which bares quite a bit of rush-hour traffic.
At any other time of the day the Signal Hill Observation Platform is fairly quiet as the heat of the day keeps most people at bay.
It’s possible via main road or a few short cuts, one past Atkinson’s Clock Tower and another to the left of Garden Hotel in Australia Place, which is also an impromptu mini jungle trek.
There’s no entry fee at the platform, and the only facilities include a toilet and a small cafe that offers snacks and drinks.
As one of Kota Kinabalu’s more visible landmarks (look up!) every city exploration tour should feature the Signal Hill Observation Platform.
